Airforwarders Association cautiously welcomes United States and Iran peace deal

The Airforwarders Association (AfA) cautiously welcomes the reported peace framework between the United States and Iran, which could help ease pressure on consumers and businesses in the United States, and the wider global economy.

The reported agreement is a positive step, but the details will be critical.

A lot could still change before the memorandum of understanding is expected to be signed on Friday (June 19th), and the air freight industry now needs clarity on how the Strait of Hormuz will reopen and free passage will be enforced.

Freight forwarders and the wider air cargo sector have worked tirelessly to protect supply chain resilience, keep time critical goods moving, and respond to fast changing operating conditions.

Recent events have again shown that air cargo is not only a commercial service, but an essential part of economic stability, emergency response, and national resilience.

United States forwarders have faced sustained disruption and uncertainty from government shutdowns, tariffs, and conflict in the Middle East.

Our industry now needs certainty, stability, and a return to predictable trade policy, so businesses can plan, invest, and move goods with confidence.

The AfA will be monitoring events closely and continue to work with legislators, regulators, and industry partners to support policies that safeguard cargo flows and keep global trade moving.
