Maersk Boosts Wetherell to Global Chief of Air Freight Forwarding, Advances Mayhew to Lead No. America Region

A.P. Moller-Maersk, the giant integrated logistics company, has promoted John Wetherell to Global Head of Air Freight Forwarding in charge of commercial carrier management, procurement, strategic network planning and design and operational excellence and growth.

Wetherell was previously Regional Head of Air Freight in North America and will be replaced by Brent Mayhew.

“Air freight is a crucial component of our customers’ supply chains and critical to our integrated product value proposition to our customers,” Murali Ramajani, Global Head of Transported by Maersk Product, said in a press announcement. “In recent years, we have doubled our air freight business, become a top global air freight forwarder, and won the air freight carrier of the year award in India. John is the ideal leader to elevate our air freight business even higher as we continue our growth plans.”

Todd Hildreth will continue to lead Maersk’s global Own Controlled Flight Operations (OCFO) which incorporates dedicated capacity flown by three different air carriers---Maersk Air Cargo, with its Europe-China routes: Amerijet, operating transpacific flights from North America to Asia, and Magma, with its transatlantic flights from Europe to North America.

The Maersk executives bring extensive experience in air logistics to their new posts. Wetherell has spent 30 years in the 3PL industry, previously holding leadership roles with CEVA Logistics, the former UTI Worldwide (now DSV) and Exel PLC (now DHL).

Mayhew has 20 years in logistics leadership and operations with CEVA Logistics, Kuehne + Nagel and DHL.

A.P. Moller-Maersk operates in over 130 countries and has 100,000 people employed in logistics services worldwide.
