AAR statement on the Senate bipartisan infrastructure legislation

Aug 03, 2021

Association of American Railroads (AAR) President and CEO Ian Jefferies released the following statement regarding the release of legislative text for the Senate bipartisan infrastructure deal that includes a full surface transportation reauthorization and makes historic investments in modernizing the nation’s water infrastructure, transit, highway, bridges and roads.

“America’s railroads applaud the bipartisan group of Senators and the Biden administration for their leadership and tireless work in developing a truly comprehensive infrastructure package that stakeholders can support. This forward-looking legislation will make long-overdue investments in modernizing the nation’s public infrastructure, improving safety and supporting economic growth well into the future. AAR and its members encourage the Senate to maintain this consensus product, reject any efforts to include divisive policy measures, and expeditiously move the legislation forward for swift consideration in the House.”
