Uzbek logistics company My Freighter takes delivery of Boeing 747

Oct 27, 2022

My Freighter, an Uzbek logistics company, has taken delivery of a Boeing 747-281F, becoming the first Uzbek company to operate the freight variant of Boeing’s iconic “Jumbo Jet.” The new aircraft will enable My Freighter to capitalize on the growing position of Uzbekistan’s capital, Tashkent, as an air freight hub.

The aircraft arrived on Sunday at Islam Karimov Tashkent International Airport after departing from Jakarta, Indonesia where it had undergone refurbishment and the necessary technical checks. With a range of over 10,000 kilometers, the newly acquired Boeing 747 enables My Freighter to launch new logistics services from its hub in Tashkent, connecting China and Southeast Asia with Europe and the United States.

“When we established My Freighter in 2019, we set a goal: to turn Uzbekistan into a center for international cargo transportation. We are working to create an ‘air freight Silk Road,’ taking advantage of Uzbekistan’s geographic position between China and Europe,” said My Freighter CEO Abdulaziz Abdurakhmonov.

“An analysis of the trends makes clear that Uzbekistan’s air freight market will grow exponentially over the next five years. This is due to the rise of e-commerce, recent shifts in global supply chains, and geopolitical developments impacting road and rail freight. Recent reforms led by President Shavkat Mirziyoev have created big opportunities for the strategic development of aviation industry. We are glad that our company’s achievements are among the results of such reforms. Uzbekistan has a unique potential to become a major air transport hub not only for Central Asia, but also for beyond,” added Abdurakhmonov.

The global air freight transport market will expand from $57.21 billion in 2021 to an estimated $61.82 billion by the end of this year—a growth rate of 8.1%. The market will continue to grow at a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 7.2%, rising to $81.51 billion by 2026.[1] My Freighter is seizing a growing share of this expanding market. In 2019, the company completed 30 cargo flights. So far in 2022, the company has completed 410 flights, using its Boeing 767-300BCF. Since inception, the company has transported 64,000 tons of air freight.

The company boasts warehouses in ten major cities in China, including Shanghai, Guangzhou, Beijing, and Hong Kong. In Europe, My Freighter’s collection points include the Germany (Leipzig and Frankfurt), France (Paris), Italy (Milan) and the Netherlands (Amsterdam). The company can also serve clients in the United Arab Emirates (Dubai), South Korea (Seoul), Russia (Moscow), Brazil (San Paolo), and Vietnam (Ho Chi Minh City). An extensive infrastructure and a wide range of international partners place My Freighter among the market leaders in transportation solutions in Uzbekistan.

My Freighter will soon purchase five more 747 cargo aircraft as part of plans to expand its fleet to 20 aircraft within the next five years. The company’s first 747 has been assigned the tail number UK47088.
