Third Class of Entrepreneurs to Launch Innovation-Focused Curriculum

Tradepoint Atlantic, the Baltimore region’s premier global gateway for commerce and supply chain operations, is proud to announce the newest class of entrepreneurs selected for its Empowerment Academy. This fall, eleven small businesses will join the program, reflecting Tradepoint Atlantic’s commitment to strengthening the local economy and supporting diverse business growth across the community.

Launched in Summer 2023 with its inaugural Fall 2023 cohort, the Empowerment Academy equips minority-, women-, and veteran-owned businesses with the tools, knowledge, and connections needed to thrive in today’s competitive marketplace. Over an intensive two-month curriculum, participants receive expert-led training in marketing, accounting, workforce development, and human resources, while also building valuable relationships through Tradepoint Atlantic’s extensive network of clients and vendors.

“We are excited to announce this year’s cohort of business owners—individuals who applied or were nominated and are now accepted and enrolled in our Empowerment Academy,” said Brian Bailey, Executive Director of the Empowerment Academy. “Our curriculum reflects Tradepoint Atlantic’s commitment to advancing economic diversity and small business growth across Maryland. This year’s class brings together both entrepreneurial vision and seasoned business experience, the combination our economy needs to continue driving innovation and growth.”

"This program doesn’t just educate—it invests in Maryland small business owners,” said Jayson Williams, CEO of Mayson-Dixon Companies and Empowerment Academy Manager. “Through a personalized curriculum, the Empowerment Academy equips businesses with the knowledge and resources they need to thrive, while also giving them a space to partner with each other and leaders in the industry."

The Fall 2025 cohort represents a diverse group of businesses spanning industries such as construction, consulting, real estate, marine services, utilities, and facility support. The class features minority-, women-, and veteran-owned enterprises that strengthen Maryland’s economy and community. Some companies trace their roots back to the 1970s, while others are emerging ventures launched in the 2020s—together blending legacy expertise with fresh entrepreneurial energy.
