The Dunkirk port community enters the Smart Port movement with Ci5.

Apr 23, 2020

It’s official – C.C.S. Hauts-de-France, wholly owned by Union Maritime et Commerciale, which represents the Dunkirk port community, has chosen Ci5, the world’s most comprehensive Cargo Community System (CCS), for managing its goods flows. The contract was signed on 2 April 2020 for a renewable 5-year term by Jean-Charles Le Gall, Managing Director of C.C.S. Hauts-de-France, and Rémi Julien, President of the MGI executive board.

The first step scheduled for 6 October 2020 will see all goods processed in Ci5. The entire MGI personnel is currently devoted on migrating the current AP+ system to Ci5 altogether while ensuring the system’s continuity. The project team, developers, testers and training staff are now all working alongside C.C.S. HdF teams to meet this deadline.

In order to ensure a seamless switch to Ci5, the MGI training team will train more than 200 Dunkirk users over a three-week period starting in September 2020.

Shipping agents, freight forwarders, transport companies, terminal operators, customs and the port authority will have a dedicated MGI project team to support them through the deployment and operation of Ci5.

C.C.S. Hauts-de-France and the entire port community will receive a version of Ci5 specially tailored to their needs. To meet the requirements of the Dunkirk port community, the scope of Ci5 has been extended to include actions such as consolidation, deconsolidation, dock stuffing and bulk management, etc. Users will be fully interconnected with the harbour master’s TIMAD system for declaring dangerous goods for export. All functionalities will be operational for launch on 6 October 2020.

Jean-Charles LE GALL, Managing Director of C.C.S. Hauts-de-France, said: “We are delighted to continue our partnership with MGI. We will be providing the entire port community with the Ci5 software for smoother flows, greater reliability and more competitive goods transit through Dunkirk, thereby improving the overall supply chain performance.”

Rémi JULIEN, President of the MGI executive board, states that “MGI is proud to be rolling out the most advanced version of Ci5 to date in Dunkirk, managing the whole community’s logistics operations for smoother flows, greater connection and improved efficiency. I thank C.C.S. Hauts-de-France for their continued trust in our company.”
