Speedy Freight continues European expansion

Nov 22, 2022

Same day courier service Speedy Freight has announced the expansion of its EU offering by opening a second branch in mainland Spain.

Located in Madrid city centre, just minutes away from Atocha Train Station, the branch will be headed up by experienced transport and logistics manager Gabriel Moyano, who is aiming to recruit between six and eight full time staff to support his existing team.

In July 2021, Speedy Freight launched its first international site in the Orihuela Costa area of Alicante. Since then, the brand has continued to expand its portfolio of multinational clients, leading to the opening of the new Spanish site in the busy city centre.

Since the COVID-19 pandemic, hauliers have noticed a clear shift in buying habits across Spain, with the growing demand for same day delivery from suppliers a key factor in the brand’s expansion in the area.

New branch manager Gabriel Moyano joins Speedy Freight after spending several years working within operations and the optimisation of processes in the transport industry.

His previous roles include Fleet Manager at a leading digital transportation company in Spain and International Traffic Manager, offering industrial express transport solutions coordinating ground and air transportation.

Most recently, he was operations leader of the transport branch at one of the fastest growing business couriers and parcel delivery in Spain, Portugal, France and the United Kingdom. Before entering the road transport sector, he was Operations Coordinator and Dispatcher at Ryanair and Groundforce, one of the 1st aero-handling companies in Spain.

Gabriel Moyano, Speedy Freight Branch Manager said: “There’s currently a huge demand for same day logistics solutions in Spain, and our new branch in the centre of Madrid is perfectly placed to service both new Spanish clients and existing multinational brands.

“I’m so thrilled to be given the chance to launch our newest EU branch, and I can’t wait to see how the team grows and develops over the coming year.”

As well as working with key contacts in and around Madrid, the new branch will service the whole of mainland Spain alongside the existing Levante branch.
