Smith System launches 5Keys Engage App in the U.S. market

Sep 03, 2025

Smith System, the leader in professional driver training and fleet safety solutions, is proud to announce the U.S. launch of the 5Keys Engage App, a mobile-first driver safety solution designed to deliver continuous behavior improvement, personalized training, and measurable results.

The 5Keys Engage App is not just a training tool—it's a behavior change engine. Built on the proven Smith5Keys® methodology, the app empowers drivers to improve their performance through real-life feedback, gamified engagement, and corrective action eLearning. It is now available as part of Smith System's integrated 5Keys Engage Platform, which connects training, analytics, and reinforcement into a unified safety ecosystem.

"People change when they're motivated, measured, and rewarded—not just informed," said Derek Dunaway, CEO of Smith System. "The 5Keys Engage App transforms safety from a one-time event into an ongoing, measurable experience."

Key Features of the 5Keys Engage App:

  • Behavior-Based Scoring: Drivers receive a dynamic 5Keys Scorecard based on six core driving behaviors—Contextual Risk, Speeding, Distraction, Fatigue, Harsh Acceleration, and Harsh Braking.
  • Skills Builder Integration: Automatically assigns corrective action eLearning when performance dips, delivering targeted microlearning directly to the driver.
  • Gamified Engagement: Leaderboards, challenges, and a built-in rewards program encourage sustained behavior change.
  • Manager Portal Access: Safety managers can view driver scores, assign training, and manage cohorts through a centralized dashboard.
  • Flexible Deployment: Can be used as a standalone solution or integrated with telematics providers like Geotab.

A New Era of Driver Risk Management

The launch of the 5Keys Engage App marks a major milestone in Smith System's evolution toward fully digital, data-driven safety programs. The app is available as part of the Driver Insights Program, which includes eLearning libraries, Skills Builder content, and the Manager Portal for full visibility and control.

The app is also included in the Certified Driver Program, allowing organizations to extend behavior-based coaching beyond behind-the-wheel training and into daily operations.
