Secretary Raimondo Meets with delegation from Singapore

Commerce Secretary Gina M. Raimondo met with Singapore’s Minister for Trade and Industry Gan Kim Yong and Minister for Communications and Information Josephine Teo, who are visiting the United States as part of Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong’s delegation.

During their meeting, Secretary Raimondo and the delegation’s members discussed joint coordination efforts on the Indo-Pacific Economic Framework (Framework). Secretary Raimondo expressed her gratitude for the close working relationship between the U.S. Government and the Government of Singapore and for the collaborative efforts that will help ensure a successful launch of the Framework. The Secretary also shared a variety of updates on the Department of Commerce’s coordination with the Ministry of Trade and Industry on efforts related to the launch of the Framework.

Concerning the U.S.-Singapore bilateral commercial relationship, the Secretary and delegation discussed developments pertaining to the U.S.-Singapore Partnership for Growth and Innovation (PGI). In particular, Secretary Raimondo highlighted the upcoming Advanced Manufacturing Business Development Mission, which will be led by the Commerce Department and coordinated with the support of the PGI later this year. She welcomed the opportunity to work with Singapore on regional cybersecurity best practices, including through smart cities programming with the ASEAN-Singapore Cybersecurity Centre of Excellence. She also stressed the importance of collaborating with Singapore to make progress on shared climate and decarbonization goals, including by mobilizing the private sector to advance innovative clean energy and envirotech solutions and services.
