Rick MacDonald to drive future development of North American Retail business at DHL Supply Chain

DHL Supply Chain, the Americas leader in contract logistics and part of Deutsche Post DHL Group, has appointed Rick MacDonald as President, Retail Sector in North America. As a member of the North American Board of Directors, MacDonald will oversee the strategic development of this key sector and strengthening the company’s positioning as an employer and provider of choice in the United States and Canada. DHL Supply Chain works with many of the leading brands in retail verticals such as grocery, specialty retail, returns, store delivery, beverage and omnichannel solutions. It provides fulfillment and transportation solutions which minimize complexity, increase flexibility, improve service levels to store fronts, optimize capacity and inventory, and enable e-commerce, enhancing overall consumer experience.

Rick MacDonald has over 30 years of distribution and transportation experience in both the United States and Canada. He has led over a hundred new business start-ups across a variety of industry verticals including retail, consumer goods, and automotive. He joined DHL Supply Chain in 2006. For the last decade, as VP, Retail, DHL Supply Chain North America, he has been engaged in leading a significant portion of the company’s retail growth strategy, including overseeing projects to further optimize customers’ distribution and transportation activities through automation and mechanization and incorporating e-commerce strategies. Retail has been on the frontline of DHL Supply Chain’s significant investments in emerging technologies.
