The SF Bay Conservation and Development Commission (BCDC) staff just released an agenda report for the June 2, 2022 public hearing, recommending that the Commission remove the Port of Oakland’s Howard property from Port Priority Use designation under the San Francisco Bay Area Seaport Plan.
The Port of Oakland issued the following statement based on this news:
“The Port of Oakland thanks BCDC staff for their analysis and we agree with their recommendation. This is an important step that will allow the Port of Oakland, City of Oakland and the A’s to continue making progress on the proposed project’s economic and community benefits potential to transform the Oakland waterfront.
The Port Commissioners will be able to move forward with planning efforts at the Howard property and the integration of Jack London Square into the project. We’re excited to explore the possibilities that this site holds for the future of the City of Oakland, the Port and the region.”
Port of Oakland Chief Operating Officer Kristi McKenney is available to comment on this decision.
