PortCity partners with Georgia Quick Start providing training space for Hyundai Motor Group’s metaplant America workforce

Nov 02, 2023

Port City Logistics, Inc (PortCity), a premier supply chain solutions provider, is proud to announce a strategic partnership with Georgia Quick Start, a division of the Technical College System of Georgia, aimed at facilitating training space for Hyundai Motor Group's Metaplant America (HMGMA) and Hyundai Transys (HTS), an affiliate specializing in powertrains and seats.

Under the terms of this collaboration, PortCity will allocate, under a Logistics Storage Agreement, 68,000 square feet of training space to Georgia Quick Start within its state-of-the-art, dehumidified Port Wentworth facility. This dedicated space will be instrumental in training employees of both Hyundai Motor Group Metaplant America (HMGMA) and Hyundai Transys (HTS) across various critical areas, including pre-hire assessments, production/general assembly, fasteners, and quality control. The training space is equipped with four vehicle lifts, advanced camera systems, and manned security gates, ensuring a conducive environment for training. It has the capacity to accommodate up to 75 trainees simultaneously.

Eric Howell, CEO at PortCity, expressed his enthusiasm about the partnership, saying, "We are excited to partner with Georgia Quick Start to provide training space for Hyundai Motor Group. This partnership is a testament to our commitment to support the economic growth of Georgia and the Savannah region."

Steve Daniel, Executive Director for OEM training centers at Georgia Quick Start, also shared his gratitude, stating, "We are grateful to PortCity for their partnership in providing this training space for Hyundai Motor Group. While we build our permanent training center, this space will be essential to our efforts to train the workforce that Hyundai will need for its operations in Georgia."

“We are thrilled to see a Port Wentworth-based company partner with Georgia Quick Start on this exciting project,” said Steve David, City Manager “Hyundai is a world-class automaker, and their investment in our community is a testament to our strong workforce and our commitment to economic development.”
