Peters & May Group seals partnership with Burgess to manage logistics solutions for its newbuild and global fleet

Apr 09, 2025

Peters & May, a global leader in specialist marine transport and logistics, today announced a new partnership with Burgess, one of the world’s most prestigious yacht brokerage and management companies.

The new partnership will see Peters & May’s specialist freight forwarding division and its courier department, CEC (Corporate Express Couriers), oversee the logistics for Burgess’ new build projects in Northern Europe, and manage shipping requirements for its global fleet of approximately 150 yachts. Ensuring a seamless end-to-end service, Peters & May’s hands on experience and expertise in specialist freight forwarding will enhance operational efficiency and strengthen Burgess’ capabilities.

Unlike standardised freight forwarders, Peters & May handles all its forwarding operations in-house, offering a wide scope of services from customs management to warehousing, covering every aspect of the clients’ supply chain.

Collaborating with Peters & May means that Burgess has more control and complete visibility over its shipments, with reliable logistics management in place, rather than relying upon commoditised, often faceless logistics support.

As part of the agreement, Peters & May will include access to its UK customs bonded warehouse and European warehouse storage, a thorough inspection of goods on arrival to establish any damages or packing requirements and packing services for both standard and dangerous goods. Peters & May will handle all UK customs clearance, freight arrangements of goods by all modes of transport, including air, road, sea, courier or multimodal, deliver full inventory and shipment reports, and provide round-the-clock contact with out-of-hours availability for emergency situations.

Simon Judson, CEO at Peters & May, said: "We are delighted to partner with Burgess, a company that shares our commitment to excellence in the marine industry. This collaboration allows us to bring our specialist logistics expertise to their global fleet, ensuring seamless supply chain management for their new build projects and existing yachts.

“With our in-house freight forwarding capabilities, customs expertise, and comprehensive bonded warehousing solutions, we provide full transparency and control over every shipment. We look forward to supporting Burgess with a tailored logistics solution that enhances efficiency, reduces risk, and delivers exceptional service at every stage."

In an industry valued at around £30 billion, Burgess holds a prominent position, and this partnership will support its 360-degree service offering. Peters & May was selected after diligent evaluation of their global logistics capability, transparency, flexibility, and competitive pricing before ultimately being chosen for their industry-specific logistical expertise, reliability, and in-house advantage providing transparency over cargo.

“This partnership further delivers on Burgess’ commitment to offer our clients a full suite of best-in-class services. With Peters & May, we have first-rate capabilities, cost effectiveness, and crucial flexibility, allowing us to secure favourable rates for our clients and value alignment,” commented Ryan Green, Senior Partner and Head of Yacht Management at Burgess.

Burgess recently established a new division dedicated to refining its procurement processes and improving the procurement service management of both its managed and new build fleet. With Peters & May onboard, Burgess is well positioned to streamline its operational efficiency across its global fleet, strengthening both current and future projects.
