OOIL listed in Dow Jones Sustainability Asia/Pacific Index for its outstanding ESG performance

Dec 20, 2022

Orient Overseas (International) Limited ("OOIL" or “the group”), the parent company of Orient Overseas Container Line (OOCL) and OOCL Logistics, was selected by Dow Jones Sustainability Indices (DJSI) to become a constituent of Dow Jones Sustainability Asia/Pacific Index, effective from 19th December 2022.

Established in 1999, the renowned Dow Jones Sustainability Indices (DJSI), were the first sustainability benchmarks available in the market to track the financial performance of the world’s leading companies in terms of environmental, social responsibility and governance (ESG). Constituents of DJSI were identified by their S&P Global ESG Score, which were calculated using the results of their annual Corporate Sustainability Assessment (CSA), an integrated assessment of governance & economic, environmental, and social criteria with a strong focus on long-term shareholder value. This year, 13,800 companies were invited to complete the CSA, with 3,519 of them being eligible for selection into a Dow Jones Sustainability Index (DJSI). OOIL was pleased to be listed in the Dow Jones Sustainability Asia/Pacific Index, following its first participation in the CSA process. As a member of the DJSI series, the Dow Jones Sustainability Asia/Pacific Index was designed to measure the performance of Asia-Pacific sustainability leaders and consists of 156 companies which are the top performers in their regions.

Inclusion in the Dow Jones Sustainability Indices is clear and valuable recognition of OOIL’s outstanding performance in environmental, social, and governance practices and in ESG disclosures. As one of the world’s largest integrated container transportation and logistics services providers, the Group has consistently taken a leadership role in advancing sustainability, through implementing numerous initiatives to address environmental and business challenges. In the future, environmental, social and governance will continue to be at the core of the Group’s operations.
