OOCL situation in the Middle East

Mar 03, 2026

Due to the recent escalation of tensions in the Middle East and the resulting restrictions on maritime traffic through the Strait of Hormuz, OOCL-operated vessels have been instructed to maintain a safe distance from the Persian Gulf and the Strait of Hormuz areas.

Currently, all OOCL‑operated vessels are outside the Persian Gulf and clear of the affected area.

According to the current sailing schedule, among OOCL‑operated vessels, only one vessel, COSCO SHIPPING AQUARIUS, is sailing westbound on the ME5 service and is expected to arrive at Jebel Ali no earlier than 13 March. OOCL has instructed that, without prior approval, vessels must not enter the Persian Gulf or come within a 200‑nautical‑mile radius of the Strait of Hormuz.
