Newark airport’s Building One first port authority building to get decarbonization retrofit

Amelia Earhart dedicated the building in 1935 as the nation’s first air passenger terminal, a stunning art deco celebration of the limitless possibilities of air travel. 90 years later, Newark Liberty International Airport’s Building One is once again ushering in a new era, becoming the Port Authority’s first building to undergo a decarbonization retrofit. It’s leaving a legacy of important lessons as the agency looks to make the same changes at all of its buildings enroute to reaching net-zero carbon emissions by 2050.
