NCBFAA Announces Janet Fields as New Association President

On April 18, the National Customs Brokers and Forwarders Association of America, Inc. (NCBFAA) announced Janet Fields, Director of Risk Management at John S. James Co., as the Association's new President.

"I am honored to serve our membership as President of the NCBFAA," Fields said shortly after the announcement. "I have seen such tremendous growth in our Association throughout the years and I am excited to help lead such a great organization."

Fields began her career at John S. James Co. when she was 18 years old. She became a licensed Customs Broker in 1988, a Certified Ocean Forwarder in 1997, a Certified Customs Specialist in 2006, and a Certified Export Specialist in 2009. Fields has served as President of the Savannah Brokers & Forwarders Association, as well as the Legislative Chairman, and is a former NCBFAA Vice President, Transportation Committee Chairman, NCBFAA Educational Institute Chairman and Board Member.

"As President, I pledge to continue the efforts of the great leadership that came before me and to forge a path of success for those who follow."

Fields succeeds Amy Magnus, Director of Customs Affairs & Compliance at A.N. Deringer, Inc., who will continue to serve the Association as Chairman of the Board of Directors.

"I want to thank Amy Magnus for her strong leadership and powerful influence these past two years," said Fields. "I'm grateful she will continue bringing her wisdom and leadership in this new role."

In addition to Fields' appointment, the NCBFAA elected the following Officers:

  • Vice President: Jose D. Gonzalez, Jose D. Gonzalez CHB
  • Secretary: Victoria Lane, Coppersmith Global Logistics
  • Treasurer: Scott Larson, MOL Logistics (USA)
