NAW applauds House passage of legislation to prevent devastating rail strike  

The National Association of Wholesaler-Distributors (NAW), which is the voice of the $8.1 trillion wholesale distribution industry and employs almost 6 million U.S. workers, applauded House action today to prevent an impending U.S. rail strike and is calling on the Senate to pass this critical legislation without delay and keep the U.S. economy and supply chain moving. The following statement was issued by NAW CEO Eric Hoplin.

“We applaud Congress for their quick action today to pass legislation that would prevent a devastating railroad strike. This crisis is entirely preventable, and we have now seen the September agreement sanctioned by the U.S. House of Representatives, the union workers who voted for the agreement in September, and President Joe Biden, the self-proclaimed ‘most pro-union President in history,’ whose administration worked directly with the rail worker unions to come to an agreement.

"The path is clear; the Senate must pass this legislation to avert a tragic and unnecessary rail strike. Any delay by Congress to pass and send legislation to the President’s desk would be irresponsible and unreasonable at this point and would allow union bosses to hold America’s economy and supply chain hostage, for an agreement that has been accepted by everyone except a handful of opportunistic Union Leaders,” Hoplin concluded.
