National Maritime Safety Association announces new president

The National Maritime Safety Association (NMSA) announced the transition of presidential leadership during its Annual Meeting in New Orleans, Louisiana. Jason Winter, Director, Safety/Training, CFS & Labor Relations at the United States Maritime Alliance (USMX), has been named the new President of NMSA, succeeding recent President Dave Morgan of Cooper/Ports America.

Dave Morgan has served as NMSA President for three years, during which the organization has seen marked growth in membership and participation. Under his leadership, NMSA has consistently broken attendance records at its Annual Meetings, launched successful advocacy days on Capitol Hill, played an active role in federal rulemaking processes, and testified before Congress, elevating the association’s work and efforts to advance maritime safety.

“It has been an incredible honor to serve as President of NMSA,” said Dave Morgan. “Our work over the last three years has strengthened the voice of the maritime safety community, and I am proud of the progress we’ve made together. I have full confidence in Jason’s leadership and know he will continue to elevate our mission as he steps into this role.”

Jason Winter officially assumed the role during the Annual Meeting and will lead the association’s efforts to advance safety standards across the maritime industry.

“I’m grateful for the trust of the NMSA membership and for Dave’s dedicated leadership,” said Jason Winter. “As we look ahead, I’m committed to continuing our collaboration across the maritime sector to keep safety at the forefront of everything we do.”

The National Maritime Safety Association represents the interests of the marine cargo handling industry and works to promote a culture of safety, regulatory engagement, and information sharing among its members and partners.
