Mukran Port starts the year 2025 with new management

Jan 06, 2025

Mukran Port welcomes Henry Forster as the new Managing Director of Faehrhafen Sassnitz GmbH at the beginning of the year. Ines Jesse, State Secretary from the Ministry of Economy, Infrastructure, Tourism, and Labor of Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania, and Leon Kraeusche, Mayor and representative of the main shareholder, the city of Sassnitz, officially welcomed him to his new role at the port today.

The State Secretary welcomed the new manager in the presence of the employees of Mukran Port.
Ines Jesse: "The Sassnitz-Mukran Port is a strong partner in the Baltic Sea region. It plays a central role in our future strategy for the maritime economy in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania and the energy transition in both Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania and Germany. The work and dedication of everyone involved here are correspondingly important. As an installation and maintenance hub for the offshore industry, the port has been long a key location for the entire Baltic Sea region. Henry Forster brings extensive experience and expertise in the fields of energy and logistics, which are important for the port's success. His strong connections with national and international partners promise to deliver valuable momentum for the strategic development of the port."

"With Henry Forster, we have gained an experienced and committed Managing Director who not only knows the Baltic Sea region and the specific requirements of our port exceptionally well, but also possesses in-depth knowledge of the relevant market conditions and economic dynamics, thanks to his long-standing industry expertise and market experience. Furthermore, his expertise in business transformation will help us continue to develop our ferry port into a modern multifunctional port with associated industrial areas, thereby sustainably strengthening the Sassnitz port location and its economic significance," says Leon Kraeusche.

Henry Forster succeeds Harm Sievers, who successfully led Mukran Port for many years and retired from the company in early October 2024 due to age.
