Messe Dortmund launches Buildinx – Innovations for Logistics Properties

Mar 03, 2023

New industry hotspot for innovative logistics and industrial properties to present a 360-degree offering for industry, wholesalers, retailers, logistics and investment

The first-ever Buildinx – Innovations for Logistics Properties trade show will be held at Messe Dortmund between 19 and 21 November 2024. The new event will focus comprehensively on the entire value chain surrounding logistics and industrial real estate – for businesses ranging from component manufacturers to prime contractors. The kick-off show will benefit from the active involvement of the German Federal Logistics Association (BVL) as technical sponsor which is also organising the show's conference programme on current and future challenges facing the industry.

Dortmund, 3 March 2023 – The first-ever annual Buildinx – Innovations for Logistics Properties trade show will see suppliers in the fields of real estate, finance, new construction and refurbishment as well as solution and component suppliers presenting their extensive portfolios. The spotlight will also be on the latest trends and innovations in technology, software, digital transformation and sustainability associated with logistics and industrial real estate. The subject areas will also include 'last mile' and CEP logistics properties, urban and regional development and public approval of real estate used for logistics. The show is aimed in particular at project developers, component manufacturers, industrial businesses, logistics service providers, wholesalers and retailers as well as logistics initiatives, investors, research bodies, business development agencies and policy-makers. The new Buildinx – Innovations for Logistics Properties from 19 to 21 November 2024 will give everyone in the industry an ideal forum for cultivating business contacts, making new ones, generating business and working together to move the industry forward.

“In recent years, demand for industrial and logistics properties has risen immensely, also adding to the pressures on industrial and logistics businesses. With the new Buildinx – Innovations for Logistics Properties show, Messe Dortmund is now offering a common platform for providers and users. Dortmund is the perfect base for this show, located at the heart of the Northern Rhineland & Ruhr conurbation whose central location, excellent infrastructure and available workforce make it one of Germany's premier logistics regions,” explained Sabine Loos, chief show organiser and Managing Director of Westfalenhallen Unternehmengruppe GmbH. “In recent years, Dortmund's already sizeable logistics capability has been gradually expanded and, with Fraunhofer IML and many other facilities, the region is now also the heartland of European logistics research. We're already applying our skills to unite several internationally significant logistics trade show models under the Messe Dortmund umbrella, and we are delighted to have the German Federal Logistics Association (BVL) as a capable partner by our side as we establish the new Buildinx – Innovations for Logistics Properties as 'the' trade show for this industry, and then move to evolve it within an exciting, promising market!”

Dr Martin Schwemmer, CEO of the German Federal Logistics Association (BVL), is also convinced of the winning qualities of this new show at Messe Dortmund: “Logistics properties play an important role in adding value throughout the supply chain networks that feed our economy and our society, and play a key part in ensuring their success. We at the German Federal Logistics Association are very happy to be partnering with Messe Dortmund as technical sponsor, helping create this new forum for dialogue and interaction in the 'logistics property ecosystem', and we look forward to it opening its doors for the first time in November 2024. The show and the accompanying conference programme being organised by the BVL's logistics property focus group will illuminate the key issues that those responsible and those that help shape our supply chains must address as far as logistics real estate is concerned.”

Kuno Neumeier, spokesman for the BVL's logistics property focus group and Managing Director of Logivest GmbH, added: “The new Buildinx – Innovations for Logistics Properties is the first show to offer a forum for the large number of technology providers and component manufacturers for logistics and industrial properties. To date, there has been no trade show focusing on this audience, even though this is precisely what is needed for innovative logistics and industrial properties. Suppliers of products and solutions that are essential requirements for any logistics property – from gate and door systems to loading equipment and fire safety solutions – and businesses specialising in energy efficiency – for example outer-shell building insulation – will find this is a perfect platform for them.

Superb location

Exhibitors will benefit from the huge, economically exploitable potential of this part of central-western Germany. Making Dortmund home to the new Buildinx – Innovations for Logistics Properties show not only puts it at the heart of a key logistics hub, it also locates the show in a progressive and strong business environment that continues to enjoy vibrant growth. According to Foreign Direct Investment Magazine, North Rhine Westphalia comes top of the list of European regions for the future and scores top ratings in the categories 'Investment location' and 'Economic potential'.

First-rate conference programme to deliver real added value

The conference and workshop programme is being organised by the conceptual sponsor, the logistics property focus group of the German Federal Logistics Association (BVL), and will be a source of information and input for one's own business along with plenty of inspiration to actively help shape the future of the industry.
