Liebherr Container Cranes to supply two rail mounted gantry cranes to Freight Village in Russia

Apr 15, 2020

The 600 Ha Freight Village Vorsino, was established in 2012 and is strategically located outside Moscow. As part of the Vorsino Industrial Park, the Freight Village boasts unrivalled access to road, rail and air infrastructure, and includes a high performance intermodal terminal. The two new Liebherr RMGs form part of the expansion plans for the intermodal terminal which will see the capacity rise to over 500,000 TEU per annum.

The RMG’s have a span of 32 m, a lift height over rail of 12.5 m and cantilevers of 8 m and 9.7 m respectively. The machines have a safe working load of 45 tonnes and feature a rotating machinery trolley.

The cranes, which will be designed and manufactured by Liebherr Container Cranes Ltd. in Ireland, will ship in large preassembled components to St Petersburg, from where they will travel by road for assembly and commissioning in Freight Village.

As with all Liebherr yard cranes, Liebherr’s eight rope reeving no-sway system and simultaneous motion of all drives allows for exceptional productivity, whilst the use of high tensile steel and a lattice main boom results in a light crane with a low centre of gravity for increased stability and performance.

Liebherr’s Moscow based mixed sales and service company Liebherr-Russland OOO, has worked closely with Freight Village and Liebherr Container Cranes Ltd and were instrumental in delivering the project.

Liebherr Container Cranes Ltd Area Sales Manager for the region, Declan O’Sullivan commented, “We are delighted to work with Freight Village Vorsino to help deliver on their expansion plans. Liebherr’s Container Cranes Ltd expertise and track record, coupled with Liebherr Russia’s extensive product knowledge and first-class local service capabilities combined to provide Fright Village with the optimum solution for their expansion plans. We look forward to delivering the cranes and seeing them in operation in due course.”
