LATAM is the fifth most sustainable airline in the world according to Standard & Poor’s

Feb 08, 2023

LATAM Airlines Group is the fifth airline with the best performance in sustainability worldwide and the first in the Americas and Europe, according to the most recent Corporate Sustainability Assessment (CSA), by Standard & Poor's. (S&P Global).

This allowed the group being the only airline on the continent to be classified in the 2023 edition of "The Sustainability Yearbook", a yearbook in which the prestigious risk rating agency S&P highlights those companies that have had outstanding growth in the assessment of their sustainability management, standing out for its environmental, social and corporate governance practices.

“The position we reached reflects the work that the LATAM group has been doing for quite some time that results in concrete actions such as eliminate single-use plastics by the end of this year, continue in the roadmap to be zero waste to landfill by 2027 and achieve carbon neutrality by 2050 and the preservation of more than 500 thousand hectares in South America”, commented Juan José Toha, Director of Corporate Affairs and Sustainability of the LATAM group.

To rank in the yearbook, companies must score in the top 15% of their industry and achieve an S&P Global Sustainability Score in the top 30% of companies performing in their area. In the 2023 edition of the evaluation 7,800 companies were assessed, 57 of them airlines; only 5 entered the yearbook.
