Lamprell Energy Ltd. invests in PEMA’s renewables production lines

Apr 04, 2022

Pemamek has won a major offshore wind order from Lamprell Energy Ltd, a leading provider of services to the international energy sector. The United Arab Emirates-based company invests in welding production automation solutions as a response to the increasing demands on capacity in the renewables sector.

The agreement between Lamprell and Pemamek includes PEMA state-of-art heavy-duty welding, milling, and material handling solutions to produce transition pieces and monopiles. As a response to the increasing demands on capacity in the renewable sector, Lamprell is continuing with significant investments in its production facilities. The yard upgrade program includes the construction of a state-of-the-art renewables production line, which will enhance the construction of jacket components, transition pieces, and monopiles.

Lamprell’s Chief Executive Officer, Christopher McDonald said: “In responding to the increasing demands on capacity in the expanding renewables sector, we have been making modifications and significant enhancements in our Hamriyah yard during the course of the past 3 years in order to provide added value for our clients. We will continue to invest in our facilities to further strengthen our standing as a leading fabricator of offshore wind foundations and deliver significant improvement in our financial performance.”

“Working with Pemamek, we are very pleased to be sourcing world-class technology and equipment and delighted that we are supporting European companies in making that commitment.”

This significant order from Lamprell consists of several different applications to produce cylindrical and conical renewables products on these fabrication lines. Deliveries are phased and most of the applications will be installed at Lamprell's Hamriyah yard in the United Arab Emirates later this year. Pemamek’s scope of supply includes also needed services like supervision for installation, commissioning, training, comprehensive spare parts packages, extended warranty with maintenance agreements, and production support.

“This latest order from Lamprell is one of our major projects in the wind energy business and a result of extremely good and professional discussions and cooperation during the international bidding process. I have high respect for Lamprell as a leading company in the renewables and oil & gas industries. It’s a pleasure to be part of this project and hope to continue this fruitful cooperation in the long-term”, summarizes Pemamek’s Vice President, Sales & Key Accounts, Jukka Rantala.
