The MSC Nicola Mastro is the first 24,000 TEUs container ship to touch an Italian gateway. The new vessel, which will be officially christened next September in Trieste, arrived in the early hours of Wednesday, August 9th, at the LSCT terminal.
The dimensions of this record-breaking ship far exceed those of all other ships typically calling at La Spezia Terminal. This achievement is the result of the terminal's ability to perfectly address all operational needs and confirms the competitive factors of the "Spezia System" that provides exceptional service for all vessels.

Matthieu Gasselin, CEO of Contship Italia, commented, "Our customers are evolving, and we are committed to supporting this change and their growth with infrastructure and value-added solutions. To stay competitive, it is crucial to anticipate market demands. The fact that the Nicola Mastro chose the La Spezia Container Terminal gateway confirms our readiness for the future. I thank MSC for their trust in the “Spezia System” and all colleagues for their excellent teamwork in this record-breaking circumstance."
To celebrate this significant achievement, the traditional crest delivery ceremony was presided over by the President of the Port Authority, Mario Sommariva, and Matthieu Gasselin, CEO of Contship Italia, along with Antonio Scala, Port Operations Area Manager of MSC.
