KICKSTER GROUP launches the “KICKSTER FUELEU MARKETPLACE”

Mar 05, 2026

KICKSTER GROUP today officially unveiled the KICKSTER FUELEU MARKETPLACE (marketplace.fuel-eu.eu), an innovative subscription-based digital platform designed to help maritime stakeholders navigate and comply with the new European FuelEU Maritime Regulation through efficient compliance pooling and market digitization.

As of 1 January 2025, the FuelEU Maritime Regulation entered into force, requiring ships above 5,000 GT calling at EU/EEA ports to progressively reduce the greenhouse gas (GHG) intensity of the energy they use on board. This regulation is part of the EU’s broader climate strategy under the Fit for 55 package and introduces mandatory targets, reporting, verification, and penalties for non-compliance.

FuelEU’s compliance landscape includes multiple mechanisms, from switching to lower-carbon fuels and using onshore power at berth, to banking, borrowing, and pooling; but specifically, the market for pooling remains fragmented, opaque, and administratively burdensome.

“KICKSTER FUELEU MARKETPLACE simplifies this complexity by offering a neutral, digital compliance ecosystem that enhances transparency, accelerates contractual workflows, and aggregates market demand for pooling opportunities,”said Pietro Valaguzza, CEO of KICKSTER GROUP.

What the KICKSTER FUELEU MARKETPLACE Offers

The platform provides a comprehensive suite of tools tailored to meet FuelEU Maritime requirements and unlock cost-effective compliance strategies:

• Digital Pooling Marketplace: Centralized listings of available pooling opportunities, aggregated across fleets and operators.

• Automated Compliance Calculator: Real-time calculation of regulatory obligations and pooling benefits.

• Verification & Eligibility Workflow: Built-in verification checks and onboarding for market participants aligned with FuelEU requirements.

• Negotiation & Agreement Tools: Interactive widgets to streamline contracting between pool participants.

• Analytics & Market Data: Dashboards that surface cost implications, demand trends, and optimized compliance paths.

Addressing Market Needs

• The FuelEU regulation allows companies to combine compliance surpluses and deficits across vessels to optimize fleet performance, but legal and operational hurdles have slowed adoption of pooling in a scalable way. The KICKSTER FUELEU MARKETPLACE directly tackles:

• Regulatory complexity with intuitive compliance guidance.

• Liquidity fragmentation by aggregating demand and offers.

• Cost inefficiencies by highlighting optimal pooling strategies.

• Manual processes through automated digital workflows.

Target Customers

• The Marketplace supports a broad set of maritime ecosystem players, including:

• shipowners & operators

• ship managers

• charterers

• marine fuel suppliers & blenders

• pool operators & aggregators

• enablers

• verifiers & auditors

• compliance consultants

Membership

• KICKSTER FUELEU MARKETPLACE offers 2 types of memberships:

• Enterprise: companies can create a free account to take advantage of the automatic calculator tool for the FuelEU compliance and browse the market liquidity.

• Premium: companies can list offers and negotiate with other participants to optimize the compliance cost.
