GAC Brazil customers can now enjoy a simplified customs clearance process leading to faster clearance, reduced storage, and other related costs after the company has been granted Authorized Economic Operator (AEO) status by the Brazilian government.
Certification was granted under a program that recognizes and certifies service providers as low risk and reliable strategic operators.
To qualify, the company had to meet the criteria of the Federal Revenue of Brazil, fulfilling the requirements and criteria set by the AEO program related to physical cargo security and compliance with customs and fiscal obligations. Only companies whose management processes minimise the risks that exist in their foreign trade operations and demonstrate their commitment to Customs Conformity and Security in their logistics chain are granted certification.
GAC Brazil’s Quality and Compliance Manager, Marco Jacobsen, spearheaded the rigorous process to fulfil the requirements, including demonstrating the company’s solvency, as well as a computer-based system to manage commercial, tax, financial and operational records, commercial and resources policies, and a compliance program.
“This is a tremendous milestone for us as we mark 15 years of operations in the country,” says Thiago Luz, GAC Brazil’s Sales Manager - Logistics. “The certification emphasizes our commitment to transparent processes and procedures in line with our Health, Safety, Security and Environment (HSSE) commitment to deliver trusted and compliant quality logistics services to our customers.”
