Leonard’s Express recognized with ‘Top 3PL & Cold Storage Provider Award’ by Food Logistics Magazine

Jun 17, 2025

Food Logistics, the only publication exclusively dedicated to covering the movement of product through the global cold food supply chain, named Leonard’s Express a winner of this year’s Top 3PL & Cold Storage Providers award, which recognizes leading third-party logistics and cold storage providers.

“Many of today's 3PL providers are challenged with rising fuel costs, the race against electrification, ensuring driver safety, complying with ever-changing regulations and more. But, thanks to the implementation of emerging technologies, cutting-edge transportation management solutions and end-to-end visibility solutions, 3PLs in the cold food chain space continue to keep on truckin',” said Marina Mayer, editor-in-chief of Food Logistics and Supply & Demand Chain Executive and co-founder of the Women in Supply Chain Forum. “By the same token, cold storage providers are challenged with slowdown in inventory levels and meeting ‘audit-ready’ mandates, but at the same time, are still implementing robotics, wearables and multi-temperature solutions to better meet ever-changing demands of the temperature-sensitive market.”

In a market defined by decreasing revenues and rising costs, Leonard’s Express continues to leverage technology to optimize assets, improve decision-making and future-proof its fleet. In the past year, Leonard’s Express adopted an AI-based platform to automate and improve decision-making, routing, and scheduling. This strategic investment has led to faster delivery times, higher load acceptance rates, and increased revenue per mile.

Leonard’s Express continues to be a leader in cold storage with its 114,500 square-foot refrigerated warehouse that serves as a key distribution point for Upstate New York and the entire Northeast Corridor, providing much-needed supply chain capacity for shippers in the region. The company also utilizes i-bright remote monitoring to ensure the temperature integrity of refrigerated loads.

“We’re passionate about providing excellent service to our customers, especially when it comes to delivering perishable goods safely and on-time,” said Leonard’s Express CEO Kyle Johnson. “Refrigerated transportation and storage is the backbone of our operation and this recognition is a testament to the dedication of our staff who take pride in their work every day.”
