FIATA’S new president is Turgut Erkeskin

Turgut Erkeskin, former President of the Association of International Forwarding and Logistics Service Providers (UTIKAD) and the CEO of Genel Transport, was elected as the new president of FIATA at the 2023 FIATA Electoral General Meeting held in Brussels on October 6th, 2023.

The 2023 FIATA World Congress took place in Brussels, Belgium between 3-6 October 2023. The Electoral General Meeting was attended by over 200 participants on the last day of the congress. Turgut Erkeskin, Former President of the Association of International Forwarding and Logistics Service Providers (UTIKAD) was elected as the new president of FIATA for the next two years. In addition, Emre Eldener, Vice President of UTIKAD, was elected as an Extended Board Member once again and will continue his duty as Vice President at FIATA. UTIKAD attended the FIATA World Congress with a delegation headed by UTIKAD President Ayşem Ulusoy.

After the elections, the newly elected President commented on FIATA’s recent transformation process and reiterated his commitment to its core values: “Over the past five years, FIATA has undergone a transformative RESET program aimed at adjusting our organization to the evolving needs of our members and the dynamic landscape of the logistics market. Thanks to the resounding success of this program, FIATA stands stronger than ever, driven by our unconditional commitment to values that define our purpose.”

“I’m happy to announce that FIATA’s new strategic vision entails empowering the entire logistics ecosystem through the power of collaboration.” Erkeskin continued and shared his vision and plans as the new President of FIATA. “We firmly believe in the power of collaboration to drive innovation and transformation within the logistics industry. Through collaboration, we will strive to streamline processes, enhance transparency, and embrace cutting-edge technologies that will not only benefit FIATA members but also contribute to the growth and prosperity of the entire industry. In this spirit of cooperation, we look forward to a future where logistics becomes a driving force behind global trade and economic development.”

Turgut Erkeskin first joined FIATA in 2010 as a member of the Maritime Working Group. He was elected to the Executive Board as Vice President in 2013 and was appointed as FIATA Europe Region President in 2015. In October 2017, he was elected to the FIATA Presidential Board and he has been serving as Senior Vice President since then.
