CIRCLE S.p.A. an Innovative SME listed on the Euronext Growth Milan market, heading the Group specialized in the process analysis and the development of solutions for the digitalization of the port and intermodal logistics sectors, as well as in the international consultancy on Green Deal and energy transition topics – announces that its subsidiary eXyond has drawn up the technical and financial proposal for the project to develop an advanced digital system for the management, monitoring and tracking of export and transit movements of goods passing through an intermodal hub in northern Italy, in line with national eFTI standards and the e-CMR, as part of Functional Lot Gate 3 – intermodal terminal entrance.
The project aims to automate the gate-in and gate-out procedures at the intermodal terminal and involves initial implementation on two lanes – one for entry and one for exit – within a vehicle access point comprising a total of four lanes, with the possibility of subsequent expansion. The system is designed to operate 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, with the aim of ensuring the traceability of vehicles entering and leaving the terminal and the interoperability of data with external platforms.
From a technological perspective, the solution comprises lane systems capable of detecting and classifying vehicles in transit, reading front and rear number plates, identifying intermodal transport unit codes, documenting their condition, and managing interaction with the driver via dedicated kiosks. The project also includes a Gate Operating System (GOS) for the collection, archiving and retrieval of transit data, real-time operational management and control of the hardware components installed in the lanes.
The proposal developed by eXyond also provides for the supply of a connector for interconnection with eFTI Italy (gate + extender) and with e-CMR, in line with the objectives of digitalizing the logistics chain and with the design requirements specified by the Interporto.
In particular, the system is designed to communicate with the terminal’s TOS via API and to enable the receipt and verification of electronic transport information and the electronic consignment note.
From a financial perspective, the project documentation provides for a total cost of supply and installation of approximately €300,000, with an estimated completion time of around six months.
Specifically, the comprehensive solution includes two complete lane systems, the GOS management software and hardware, the connector for interconnection with eFTI Italy and e-CMR, as well as design, testing, commissioning and staff training. The “base + options” structure, on the other hand, allows the essential functions to be activated immediately, whilst leaving open the possibility of introducing further components at a later date, including modules dedicated to integration with the TOS, additional devices for the lane totems and advanced digital interoperability functions.
“The project represents a further concrete application of the Group’s expertise in the digitalization and automation of intermodal logistics hubs. The integration of gate automation, intelligent transit data collection and interoperability with eFTI and e-CMR supports the evolution towards more efficient, traceable and digital processes, in line with European and national guidelines for innovation in the logistics chain.” – said Luca Abatello, CEO of Circle Group.
With this initiative, CIRCLE Group and eXyond confirm their position as technology partners for the development of advanced solutions supporting intermodality, digital flow management and interoperability between terminals, economic operators and reference
platforms, as for the Connect4 Agile Growth plan."
