DHL Express relocates in Las Vegas to new, larger facility

Apr 04, 2023

DHL Express, the world’s leading provider of international express shipping services, has relocated to a larger and more conveniently located service center facility in Las Vegas, Nevada, to meet the growing demand for international shipping in the region. The $11.1M investment has enabled DHL Express to move closer to the commercial core of Las Vegas, resulting in earlier deliveries and benefiting international shippers in the greater Las Vegas area.

The new DHL facility, located at 5280 W Badura, Suite 100, near Las Vegas' main south artery, boasts new state-of-the-art sorting equipment and nearly 47,000 square feet of combined warehouse and office space. Due to the high demand for DHL Express services in the fast-growing Las Vegas market, the facility is 27% larger than the company's previous location at 3655 W Sunset Rd, Ste E. This enables the operation to increase capacity and improve first-stop delivery times for international services by at least 30 minutes in the local market.

"As the Las Vegas market grows, DHL is committed to growing with it and providing our customers the highest, most efficient level of service," said Aaron Jones, VP and GM, Mountain / Southwest Area for DHL Express U.S. "Las Vegas has been an extremely active market for DHL, and our investment in this new larger, strategically located, and advanced facility will allow us to handle the increased volume with ease."

The facility, which not only serves Las Vegas, but also parts of Utah and Arizona, is staffed by 50 dedicated couriers and operational personnel and features an advanced material handling system, which can process up to 3,000 pieces per hour. It also includes 65 positions for vehicles to load and unload shipments around its conveyable sort system.

Additionally, the new DHL service center was built using sustainable materials and is equipped with electric vehicle charging infrastructure. The goal is to operate locally with 100% electric vehicles within the next year, in line with Deutsche Post DHL Group's sustainability roadmap, which aims to have 60% of its global delivery fleet powered by electricity by 2030.

The facility handles U.S. domestic as well as time-definite international shipments to and from the 220 countries and territories served by DHL. It also offers a convenient ServicePoint for customers to drop off and pick up shipments locally.

DHL Express also opened two mobile pop-up stores in the Las Vegas area in May 2022, offering an easy-to-use shipping option for the city's growing number of residents.
