Dachser appoints Morawietz Corporate Director IT

Ralf Morawietz has been in charge of Dachser’s Corporate IT since January 1, 2023, being responsible for more than 600 people. As an experienced logistics IT manager, Morawietz is focusing on further developing the global logistics provider’s IT strategy and driving digitalization forward.

Ralf Morawietz (55) is an expert in developing best-in-class IT organizations and has more than 30 years of experience in IT management in global transport and logistics companies. His previous positions include Senior Vice President Application Development at Kühne + Nagel and CIO of Panalpina. As Corporate Director IT (CIO), Morawietz reports to Stefan Hohm, Chief Development Officer and member of the Dachser Executive Board.

Morawietz succeeds Stefan Selbach, who has entered a period of active semi-retirement after more than 18 years at the helm of Dachser IT. Over the next three years, Selbach will be responsible for Enterprise Architecture, IT Controlling and IT Purchasing in his role as Dachser’s Head of IT Governance.

“Our IT systems are instrumental in maintaining our logistics network’s performance and service quality, and thus in ensuring Dachser’s commercial success. Over the past few decades, we have set industry standards in this area,” says Burkhard Eling, CEO of Dachser. “In appointing Ralf Morawietz, we have gained a seasoned IT manager who will systematically develop and enhance the digital transformation, innovative capacity, and customer orientation of our global IT.”

By the end of the 1980s, Dachser had already recognized the value generated by intelligently connecting the flows of physical goods and digital data. Since then, digital innovations have played a key role in the logistics provider’s development and in its international growth. Today, Dachser’s Corporate IT employs more than 600 people, developing integrated premium software products and systems that provide and enhance the digital infrastructure for Dachser’s groupage logistics services. All of these core services for transport and warehouse management are developed in-house. Additionally, Dachser employs around 270 IT coordinators that supervise and maintain the IT systems used at the company’s branches around the world. Last but not least, security is of highest importance for the IT infrastructure at Dachser: the company’s software development and core systems are certified to ISO 27001.
