CV International, Inc. (CVI), a Norfolk-based freight forwarder and customs broker, and its subsidiary Capes Shipping Agencies (Capes), a leading port and vessel agency serving the U.S. East and Gulf Coasts, today announced the promotions of Cary Hagen and Bobby Scott to key executive leadership positions.

Cary Hagen Appointed Chief Commercial Officer of CVI
As CCO, Hagen steps into an expanded executive role with responsibility for commercial strategy, sales, business development, marketing, and customer success. His priorities center on deepening CVI’s relationships with existing clients while expanding the company’s reach in key growth markets — ensuring that the company’s full suite of freight forwarding, customs brokerage, compliance, and supply chain visibility services is accessible and seamlessly integrated for every client CVI serves.
Hagen joined CVI in 2024 as Vice President, Strategic Partnerships, bringing with him more than 30 years of experience in global logistics, port operations, and supply chain management.
“Global supply chains remain under pressure from every direction — shifting tariffs, carrier consolidation, compliance complexity," said Hagen. “Shippers need a logistics partner who can see the full picture and move quickly. That’s exactly what CVI is built to do, and we’re sharpening our commercial model to make it easier for customers to access everything we offer under one roof.”
Bobby Scott Named President of Capes Shipping Agencies
As President, Scott assumes senior executive responsibility for Capes’ overall strategy, operations, and performance, reporting directly to the CEO. He will lead the company’s efforts to expand its geographic footprint, broaden its service capabilities, and deepen its partnerships across the dry bulk, liquid bulk, breakbulk, and energy infrastructure sectors — markets that continue to drive significant vessel traffic along the U.S. East and Gulf Coasts.
Scott brings more than 27 years of port and vessel agency experience to the role and has been a key member of the Capes leadership team since 2020.
“Capes continues to experience impressive growth due to our staff’s dedication to exceptional customer service. Our ability to handle a diverse range of commodities brings value to our customers as their partner in every port we serve. For these reasons, I am excited about what the future holds for our company,” said Scott.
Strengthening the Executive Foundation
CV International also announces the promotion of Peter Hansen to Vice President of Operations at Capes and the appointment of Kevin Briggs as Vice President of Technology across both CVI and Capes. Bill Smith continues to serve as Vice President of Business Development and Sales at CVI, and Steve Hagen continues to serve as Vice President and General Manager of Capes.
A Unified Vision for Relationship-Driven Growth
“These appointments represent a significant milestone in our long-term growth strategy,” said Mike Coleman, CEO. “Cary’s strategic depth in global logistics and Bobby’s expertise in vessel agency create a formidable leadership team. With Cary leading the commercial vision for CVI and Bobby at the helm of Capes, we are building upon our position to provide comprehensive, industry-leading solutions to our clients worldwide. Our vision is to be our clients’ most trusted partner regardless of where their needs fall along the supply chain.”
