ContainerPort Group’s Charleston terminal relocates

May 16, 2023

ContainerPort Group (CPG®), a nationwide leader in drayage and logistics, has announced the relocation of its Charleston terminal to an expansive, state-of-the-art facility in North Charleston. This strategic move underscores CPG’s dedication to expanding its presence in key markets and delivering innovative coast-to-coast drayage solutions tailored to meet the evolving needs of its customers.

Joey Palmer, President of CPG, shared that “Our new Charleston facility will offer ample space for CPG, our recently launched Dedicated Services division, and our sister brand, Bristol Transportation. This expansion enables us to focus on developing customized solutions for our customers and owner-operators, as we expect cargo volumes diverted for the west coast ports to remain on the east coast.”

The upgraded facility includes two new, larger buildings, each boasting approximately 2,000 sq ft of space, situated on an eight-acre yard designed to accommodate employees, truck parking and container storage. Enhanced security measures include a cutting-edge security system and improved lighting. Catering to driver needs, both buildings are equipped with dedicated driver areas that offer Wi-Fi access, kitchenettes, and private restrooms.

This investment in a larger space in Charleston will bolster CPG’s Dedicated service, which specializes in delivering predictable, white-glove service for high-volume customers. Launched in October 2022, the service has experienced remarkable growth by providing customized solutions, planned and consistent capacity, and predictable costs for its customers.

Gary Ernest, Vice President of Dedicated Operations, said, "Our Dedicated service is thriving as we continue to fulfill our commitment to predictable capacity solutions, resulting in a growing, loyal customer base. Customers appreciate the dedicated capacity, seamless process, and single point of contact we offer for their drayage network."

CPG welcomes new and existing customers, drivers, and media members to the facility’s grand opening event on Tuesday, May 23, from 12:00 pm until 2:00 pm, featuring a ribbon cutting ceremony, catered lunch, and media availability with CPG President Joey Palmer and Executive Vice President Jon Urban.
