Chicago superhub powers next chapter of SpeedX growth

Dec 03, 2025

SpeedX, a technology-driven leader in last-mile parcel delivery, has opened a new Class A e-commerce and freight superhub in Chicago, signaling the next stage of its nationwide expansion. The new facility enhances SpeedX’s network processing capacity and plays a central role in supporting SpeedX’s current ability to deliver 1 million parcels per day across the US.

Located minutes from Chicago O’Hare International Airport, the 200,000-sq.-ft. hub features a next-generation auto-sorter with expansive chute capacity, enabling processing speeds of up to 30,000 parcels per hour and 500,000 shipments daily during peak season.

The investment represents a major milestone in SpeedX’s U.S. growth strategy. With more than 50 new facilities launched in the past year, the Chicago superhub further enhances operational capacity and control in one of the nation’s most important logistics markets and will support faster, more efficient delivery performance across the Midwest and national network.

E-commerce sales have doubled in the U.S. in the past 5 years. The U.S. e-commerce industry is expected to reach an estimated $1.3 trillion in 2025 and is projected to grow to $1.84trn by 2029 as the online shopping trend accelerates.

“Chicago is both a prime global air gateway and one of the most important hubs for U.S. e-commerce and freight. By investing here, we’re strengthening our operational control and enhancing the efficiency of our network. This superhub is also central to our strategy of connecting SpeedX facilities nationwide through transcontinental linehaul, creating a more resilient and scalable delivery network for the future,” said Chris Zheng, Founder and CEO of SpeedX.

Designed with long-term scalability in mind, the Chicago facility offers expanded dock doors and floor space to accommodate both parcel and freight shipments. It will also create new jobs in the region, including management, supervisory, and more than 75 operations roles.

“Our investment in this superhub reinforces our commitment to innovation, speed, and service,” Zheng added. “It represents the next step in building a delivery network that meets the evolving needs of retailers, brands, and consumers nationwide.”
