Cheniere produces first LNG at Corpus Christi Stage 3 project

Cheniere Energy said that liquefied natural gas (LNG) was produced for the first time from the first train (Train 1) of its Corpus Christi Stage 3 Liquefaction Project.

As the commissioning process continues, the company says it expects substantial completion of Train 1 to be achieved at the end of the first quarter of 2025.

As of Nov. 30, the overall project completion for the Corpus Christi Stage 3 was 75.9%, the Houston, Texas-based company said in a statement.

Upon completion, construction firm Bechtel Energy will hand over the care, control, and custody of the completed train to Cheniere, the company added.

The Corpus Christi Stage 3 Liquefaction Project consists of seven midscale trains and is projected to produce over 10 million tons per annum (mtpa) of LNG. When these are substantially completed, the Corpus Christi liquefaction facility's capacity is expected to exceed 25 mtpa of LNG.

Cheniere is the largest U.S. LNG exporter and the world's second largest producer of the superchilled gas. The company has played a key role in helping the U.S. become the world's largest exporter of LNG.

Last week, Venture Global LNG's tanker Venture Bayou departed the Plaquemines export plant in Louisiana for Germany, carrying the first LNG cargo produced at the facility.
