CHAMP Cargosystems, the leading global end-to-end technology partner for the air cargo industry, is pleased to announce the appointment of Gianluca Marcangelo as Vice President, Neo Program Engagement. In this strategic role, Gianluca will lead customer engagement and drive the transition to CHAMP’s next-generation cargo management solutions, “Cargospot neo”.

Gianluca brings over 25 years of experience in airfreight and logistics, with a strong background in digital innovation, operational transformation, and industry collaboration. His journey began in 1998 with a US-based freight forwarding company. In 2000, he joined the Global GSA Group in Italy as Head of Sales & Operations for the Milan branch, managing over 15 airlines and several global key accounts.

In 2015, Gianluca relocated to the Oman Air Head Office, serving as Manager, Customer Service, before advancing to Manager, Special Products Development and Digital Innovation. During his tenure, he pioneered community-driven initiatives for IATA CEIV Pharma and Fresh certification and implemented the IATA eAWB program. He also contributed to strategic projects with the Oman Aviation Group, including the development of a new cargo terminal and a joint venture with SATS.

In 2021, Gianluca joined the Challenge Group in Liège as Senior Manager Vertical Operations & Cargo Transformation, later becoming Head of Industry Relations and Marketing at the Group’s headquarters in Malta. His active participation in various IATA working groups and global industry forums, including the TIACA Executive Summit, IATA WCS, CNS Conference, and Cargo Facts EMEA, underscores his commitment to advancing industry standards and innovation.

As VP Neo Program Engagement, Gianluca will spearhead CHAMP’s customer-centric strategy, guiding airlines through their digital transformation journey and ensuring the CHAMP community fully leverages the new features and latest technologies embedded in Cargospot neo and in the wider CHAMP digital portfolio.

Nicholas Xenocostas, Chief Commercial Officer at CHAMP, comments, “Gianluca’s deep industry expertise and passion for innovation make him the ideal leader to drive our Neo Program forward. His appointment reinforces CHAMP’s commitment to helping customers embrace digitalization and future-proof their operations – today and tomorrow.”

“I’m truly excited to join CHAMP Cargosystems at such a pivotal moment in the company’s journey. With the launch of Cargospot neo, CHAMP is setting a new benchmark for cargo management technology. I look forward to working closely with our more than 100 airline partners and key industry stakeholders worldwide to support their transition to the Neo platform and to help accelerate their digital transformation journeys,” said Marcangelo.
