C.H. Robinson named a leader in the 2025 Gartner® Magic Quadrant™ for Fourth-Party Logistics

Dec 02, 2025

C.H. Robinson has been recognized as a Leader in the first-ever 2025 Gartner® Magic Quadrant™ for Fourth Party Logistics (4PL), for its Ability to Execute and Completeness of Vision.

“Gartner defines 4PL as a supply chain services provider that manages the design, build, run, measurement and orchestration of all or part of an end-to-end logistics network.” According to Gartner’s 2026 Logistics and External Manufacturing Outsourcing Trends Survey, “42% of nearly 220 supply chain leaders already outsource to a 4PL, with a further 35% saying they plan to outsource to a 4PL in the next two years."

“To us, being named a Leader affirms what we’ve built: a Lean AI logistics platform that is designed to manage the world’s most complex supply chains with precision, resilience and a system of intelligence that is always on,” said Jordan Kass, President of C.H. Robinson Managed Solutions.

C.H. Robinson manages 37 million shipments a year, connecting 83,000 customers with 450,000 carriers globally. It delivers its 4PL capabilities through C.H. Robinson Managed Solutions, which offers flexible and configurable solutions at scale across TMS, 3PL managed transportation, and 4PL services. Through this single point of entry, customers can access the full strength of C.H. Robinson’s global platform and capabilities, whether they require end-to-end coordination or targeted operational support that flexes over time.

“We strongly believe that our 4PL competitive moat is clear,” said Kass. “Eight strategically located global control towers, a proprietary TMS serving all regions and all modes, and the groundbreaking Always-on Logistics PlannerTM, an orchestration layer built to manage supply chain complexity down to the item level, powered by agentic AI.”

At the heart of C.H. Robinson's 4PL capabilities and other leading-edge logistics services, the Always-on Logistics Planner is a first-of-its-kind, premium service purpose-built to orchestrate C.H. Robinson's growing fleet of autonomous AI agents. Acting as a digital teammate embedded in operations, the Always-on Logistics Planner works with human logisticians in real time to coordinate planning, booking, tracking, exception management and delivery with precision and adaptability, 24/7. This blend of automation, intelligence, and oversight enables logistics systems that learn and evolve, driving faster, smarter, and more resilient supply chains.

C.H. Robinson has been at the forefront of a series of complementary innovations that all work together to raise the bar for the logistics industry as a whole. In addition to the Always-on Logistics Planner, these include:

  • Agentic Supply Chain™ Solutions, powered by agentic AI and the world’s largest logistics data set, where shippers can experience a supply chain that learns, thinks, adapts, and acts more proactively and predictively.
  • Item-level Solutions, offering real-time SKU-level inventory control and tracking across the supply chain, allowing shippers to avoid ordering inventory where they don’t need it, shift it to where they do, and order with more precision when it’s needed.

“We believe our 4PL capabilities are a preview of what comes next,” said Arun Rajan, Chief Strategy and Innovation Officer. “We’ve built a ‘system of systems’ that enables autonomous AI agents, human experts, and our Lean AI platform to operate as one, so we can help companies unlock resilience, adaptability, and real-time decision making in a world where disruption is the baseline. This is just the beginning of bringing agentic supply chains to life.”

C.H. Robinson is also recognized as a Challenger in the 2025 Gartner® Magic Quadrant for Transportation Management Systems.
