BTS motor fuel prices – August 2025

Today, the Bureau of Transportation Statistics (BTS) released monthly motor fuels prices for August 2025.

In August 2025, the average price for regular motor gasoline was $3.13 per gallon; up 0.3% from July 2025 and down 7.6% from August 2024.

By region, the average price for regular motor gasoline in August 2025 was and year-over-year change:

• West Coast: 4.05 (down 0.3%)

• Rocky Mountain: 3.15 (down 7.8%)

• Central Atlantic: 3.13 (down 9.4%)

• New England: 3.05 (down 9.6%)

• Midwest: 3.03 (down 9.3%)

• Lower Atlantic: 2.91 (down 9.4%)

• Gulf Coast: 2.71 (down 8.8%)

The average price for diesel no. 2 rose to $3.74 in August 2025, down 0.9% from July 2025, and up 1.2% from August 2024.
