Bolloré Logistics is thus participating in the establishment of an air bridge between China and Switzerland to ensure the logistics operations of essential pharmaceutical products and limit the spread of the virus
On Monday 6 April, a Boeing B747-4 operated by the company Cargolux coming from Shanghai (China) landed at 1:30 pm at the Geneva airport. On board, 92 tons of protective masks and medical equipment intended for public establishments (hospitals, clinics) as well as healthcare professionals in French-speaking Switzerland.
This operation, conducted on behalf of a group of organisations bringing together the Swiss-Chinese Chamber of Commerce (SCCC) as well as the Geneva Chamber of Commerce, Industry and Services (CCIG), was successfully carried out and at the earliest possible time. A total of 12,800 packages of medical equipment containing masks, gloves and protective visors as
3 well as thermometers were received for a total volume of 630 m .
To manage this mission, the Bolloré Logistics teams in China and Switzerland worked in synergy ensuring end-to-end management of the supply chain from the production site to the point of delivery. At each stage, they coordinated so that all the logistical operations carried out are perfectly linked (collection of goods, packaging on pallets, loading and unloading, transport by trucks, etc.) with temperature control and customs formalities being taking over.
Since the start of the Covid-19 epidemic, Bolloré Logistics has been mobilised to continue to serve its customers and participate in the continuity of public service. In order to meet health emergency needs, a crisis unit was created to set up an alternative transport plan for each shipment, combining flexibility and speed of execution. This unit is made up of company experts in the pharma and life science sectors and relies on its international network covering 107 countries.
