Bob’s Discount Furniture celebrates World EV Day with first EV truck

Sep 11, 2024

Bob’s Discount Furniture, one of the fastest growing omni-channel furniture retailers in the country, celebrates World EV Day through a recent partnership with Werner Final Mile, the last mile delivery service provider across the United States, Mexico and Canada.

On August 14, 2024, the companies held a special ribbon-cutting ceremony to commemorate the first EV truck they’ve partnered on. The well attended event was held outside of Bob’s Discount Furniture’s home office in Manchester, CT.

Since the event just last month, the EV truck has completed 132 home deliveries, which is estimated to have saved approximately 136.7 gallons of diesel and continues to serve as a strong example of Werner Final Mile’s dedication to innovation and Bob’s Discount Furniture’s contributions to a better future for its customers and the communities in which it operates.

“Bob’s is thrilled to partner with Werner Final Mile, a superior leader in the transportation and logistics services space with a focus on sustainability,” said Bill Barton, Bob’s Discount Furniture, President and CEO. “This environmentally-sound initiative led by Werner supports Bob’s mission to reduce our environmental impact and is further proof that eco-friendly operations can coexist with business growth.”

World EV Day was created to raise awareness and promote the shift to electric vehicles worldwide. 2024 is the fifth anniversary of World EV Day, which was created by Ade Thomas, and his sustainability media company, Green.TV, in partnership with ABB, a global technology company.
