BDP International achieves Center of Excellence for Independent Validators pharma certification

Jan 13, 2022

BDP International (BDP), a leading privately-held global logistics and transportation solutions company, has today announced three key office locations have achieved Center of Excellence for Independent Validators (CEIV) in pharmaceutical logistics certifications from the International Air Transport Association (IATA). BDP’s Brussels, Belgium, Milan, Italy, and JFK, New York, locations have successfully completed all applicable and necessary training that ensures the highest level of international compliance standards to safeguard pharmaceutical product integrity during the transportation process.

IATA developed CEIV Pharma to assist organizations and the entire air cargo supply chain by establishing a common baseline from existing regulations and standards and confirms that the company’s handling of pharmaceutical products meets the IATA Temperature Control Regulations (TCR) and international standards and best practices including those of the World Health Organization, European Union Good Distribution Practices (GDP), and the United States Pharmacopeia standards.

The CEIV certification is a testament to BDP’s ongoing commitment to logistics excellence in the safe and secure transport of highly-sensitive products that demand impeccable product integrity. “Ensuring product quality is a significant challenge for the pharmaceutical industry,” noted Simona Ravera, BDP’s Director of Sales for Life Sciences, EMEA. “With the CEIV certification, our customers around the world can trust that their logistics partner is invested in the highest quality standards for their high-quality products.”

In response to increasing global growth and demand of the pharmaceutical market, BDP has taken a major step to safeguard the specialized needs of these highly-sensitive products through the CEIV certification. Today’s complex landscape requires the utmost levels of both precision and timeliness, and BDP is better positioned to safely and efficiently deliver the expertise required to transport these vital products around the world.

“The CEIV certification of Brussels, Milan, and JFK is the first step for subsequent deployments in strategic locations to meet the demand of BDP's customers in today’s rapidly moving supply chain landscape,” said Gerry Fama, BDP Vice President of Sales, Europe. “Brussels is also considered Europe’s leading pharmaceutical hub, thereby creating incredible opportunities for BDP’s customers who transport their product through this critical gateway to the rest of the world.”

“The COVID-19 crisis has demonstrated the importance of air cargo in delivering lifesaving vaccines and medicines, much of which requires a temperature-controlled environment. Having BDP International become CEIV Pharma Certified is a significant boost for meeting shippers’ expectations in terms of standardisation and transparency across the pharma supply chain, essential as we continue to fight the pandemic,” said Brendan Sullivan, IATA Global Head of Cargo.
