
"We are pleased that the A's and the Port will not be extending the exclusive negotiating agreement and non-binding term sheet for the Howard Terminal stadium project. This active and critical industrial asset was not the right place for A’s mega-development, and the team's ownership never made a good-faith attempt to work with the existing seaport community.
For the last 50 years, Oakland has enjoyed a professional sports facility in East Oakland and a working international trade gateway in West Oakland. The East Oakland Stadium Alliance continues to call for the A’s to build a new ballpark at the Coliseum, which is their rightful home and has a bright future as the epicenter of Bay Area sports.
We look forward to working with the City and the Port to ensure that transportation and industrial uses at Howard Terminal continue to be an important component of the region’s international trade economy as we foster new initiatives in the maritime sector. Howard Terminal should continue to support the transition of heavy transportation away from West Oakland neighborhoods while creating infrastructure for zero-emissions truck charging and maintenance stations, offshore wind support vessel staging, and other innovative maritime support activities.”
