Europe needs to ensure that airlines flying into the continent avoid Russian airspace to provide a level playing field in the industry, German airline group Lufthansa said on Wednesday.
Lufthansa CEO Carsten Spohr said Chinese airlines have a big cost advantage because they can currently fly over Russia, and also do not face the same environmental costs as European carriers.
