AIT to achieve net-zero carbon emissions by 2035

Apr 21, 2022

Global freight forwarder AIT Worldwide Logistics announced its commitment to achieve net-zero carbon emissions by 2035 in the release of its Sustainability Report on Earth Day 2022.

While this is the first corporate social responsibility document issued by the company, AIT’s long-term customers, teammates and partners will recognize that many of the environmental, social and governance initiatives included in the report were launched many years ago.

“The programs in our Sustainability Report emerged organically from the company’s core values: earn our customers’ trust, value our teammates, engage in our communities, and apply our ethics,” said AIT’s Executive Chairman and Chief Executive Officer, Vaughn Moore.

“In recent years, our organization came to recognize sustainability as a common thread for these initiatives,” Moore continued. “And in 2021, we determined that a formal expression of AIT’s commitment to corporate social responsibility was the next logical step forward.”

“The company had numerous environmental, social and governance programs already in place – some for more than a decade,” said AIT’s Chief Information Officer, Ray Fennelly, executive sponsor of the company’s sustainability initiative.

“For us, the challenge was to integrate these programs under a single unified corporate social responsibility framework that is clearly communicated to stakeholders,” he added.

According to Fennelly, business continuity is an important – but often overlooked – aspect of a company’s sustainability efforts.

“Our organization is striving to be a model for others in our industry,” he said. “We humbly believe that the continuity of AIT’s operations provides a sustainable net-positive result for our people, our customers, and the communities where we live and work.”

On Friday, April 22, 2022, Fennelly will share additional thoughts about building and maintaining a resilient sustainability program when he appears as a guest at the virtual Net-Zero Carbon Summit hosted by FreightWaves.

AIT is investing in a positive vision of the future by nurturing a culture of purposeful corporate social responsibility in everything we do. Together with customers, teammates, partners, and community members, we are taking action today to deliver a better tomorrow through sustainable environmental, social and governance practices.
