The American Great Lakes Ports Association (AGLPA) announced the appointment of Leslie Zager as the organization’s first Communications Director. Zager will manage strategic communications efforts and work to strengthen engagement with the AGLPA’s member ports and stakeholders across the Great Lakes region.

A Michigan native based in Detroit, Zager brings over 25 years of experience leading marketing and outreach initiatives across industries including transportation, technology, legal, healthcare, and retail. An award-winning art director, accomplished writer, and seasoned communications leader, Zager helped shape integrated campaigns for global brands including Ford, General Motors, and La-Z-Boy.

“Leslie’s strategic mindset and deep marketing experience are exactly what we need to elevate our efforts and further develop relationships across the Great Lakes ports community and region,” said Brian Oszakiewski, Executive Director of the AGLPA. “She has the perfect background of traditional communications, social media, marketing, events, graphic design, technology integration, and beyond to champion our organization and the industry we serve. We’re thrilled to welcome her to the team and look forward to her energy and insight in this new role.”

As Communications Director, Zager will oversee all marketing and engagement efforts across print, digital, and social media channels. Her work will focus on sharing the stories of AGLPA’s member ports, building relationships with key audiences, and supporting public outreach and events that highlight the value of the Great Lakes maritime industry.
