Aeroterm to develop a 140,000–170,000 SF multi-tenant cargo facility at Pittsburgh International Airport

Mar 10, 2022

The board of the Allegheny County Airport Authority, which manages Pittsburgh International Airport (PIT), and Aeroterm announce that they will enter into a 30-year ground lease with two 10-year options to develop a 140,000–170,000 square feet, on-airport cargo facility. The multi-tenant property, which when complete will be the largest at PIT, will be built on 8.77 acres and is scheduled to open the second quarter of 2023.

“Nearly 250 million pounds of goods were transported through PIT in 2021, a 30% increase in freight volume over 2020 and 26% more than in 2019,” said Alex Brodsky, Associate Vice President, Investments, Aeroterm. “With the demand for air cargo continuing to grow at a staggering pace, primarily due to e-commerce, this new cargo building will add much needed cargo processing capacity to the airport and will support economic growth for the surrounding community.”

The new cargo facility will provide a convenient, on-airport access point for cargo companies flying in and out of PIT who want to service the densely populated markets of the Mid-Atlantic, Mid-West and Northeast. The proposed facility will allow existing logistics companies to expand and attract new entrants to the market to service the increased cargo tonnage.

“We are proud to take part in this very exciting project and work with PIT’s dynamic and visionary leaders,” said David Rose, Managing Director, Aeroterm. “We are keen to capitalize on the surge in demand for e-commerce with a project that supports PIT’s world-class infrastructure and services the needs of our logistics partners.”

Highlights of the property include:

  • Square feet: 140,000–170,000 SF
  • Land area: 8.77 acres
  • Access: I-376
