Sen. Carper, Sen. Capito, Rep. Norton, Rep. Graves, USDOT Sec. Buttigieg, NTSB Chair Homendy to speak
The American Association of State Highway and Transportation Officials will hold its Annual Washington Briefing, Tuesday, March 1 through Friday, March 4, in person at the Hilton Washington DC Capitol Hill Hotel, located at 525 New Jersey Avenue NW in Washington, D.C.
The briefing will focus on implementing the $1.2 trillion Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act,
FY 2022 appropriations, and implementing AASHTO President Shawn Wilson's Emphasis Areas: "Creating Pathways to Equity" and "Partnering to Deliver."
Several key Congressional leaders on transportation issues will speak on Wednesday, March 2: Sen. Tom Carper, D-Del, chairman of the Senate Environment and Public Works Committee; Shelley Moore Capito, R-W.Va., ranking member on the Senate EPW Committee; Rep. Eleanor Holmes Norton, D-Washington, D.C., chairwoman of the House Transportation and Infrastructure Subcommittee on Highways and Transit; and Rep. Sam Graves, R-Mo., ranking member on the House T&I Committee. Additionally, on Wednesday, Jennifer Homendy, chair of the National Transportation Safety Board, will deliver the keynote address for the Road Gang luncheon. On Thursday, March 3, Pete Buttigieg, secretary of the U.S. Department of Transportation, will deliver the luncheon keynote address.
Selected projects will strengthen domestic rare earth supply chains, reduce reliance on foreign sources, and improve U.S. energy security.
