Sep 13, 2017
Passenger and cargo flights at Miami International Airport continue to increase toward a full daily schedule. There were 158 arrivals and 100 departures on September 12, but a total of 526 flights were cancelled. There were also 147 cargo-only flights yesterday.
  • The projected schedule for today includes 225 arrival flights and 208 departures, with a total of 402 flights cancelled – which is about 50 percent of MIA’s normal schedule.
  • Full flight operations by all airlines are expected sometime this weekend.
  • Since all airlines are not yet at a full schedule, passengers should contact their airline to confirm their flight’s status before coming to the airport.
  • The MIA Rental Car Center is now open, and Metrorail and Metrobus service at MIA is operating at a limited schedule. Taxi and Transportation Network Company service have also resumed.
  • Miami-Opa locka Executive Airport is open.
  • Miami Executive Airport is open, but the FAA tower is currently closed for damage assessment. Flights are operating with pilot-to-pilot communication.
  • Miami-Homestead General Aviation Airport and the Dade-Collier Training and Transition Airport are now open.
Below is the latest information from MIA hub carrier American Airlines regarding their operations: HURRICANE IRMA INFORMATION 8:00 a.m. ET, Sept. 13, morning update from American Airlines OPERATIONS: Hurricane Irma, now a post-tropical cyclone, has impacted our operation. We are now in the process of resuming limited operations at airports throughout Florida and the Caribbean (see updated scheduled below). Resumption of service at all airports will be based on airport and roadway conditions, including the ability of our team members to get to work. We are also coordinating closely with our partners at the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), TSA and U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP). These three agencies must conduct their own assessment of their operations prior to any airline resuming service. Please review our latest Travel Alert at news.aa.com. As many flights are already sold out, we encourage our customers to only go to the airport if they have a confirmed ticket and their flight status shows “on time” on aa.com.
